Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

The perfect home base to experience Scottsdale is Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. You’ll find the world-famous Troon North Golf Club just around the corner.

Staying at Four Seasons gives you guest privileges at the clubhouse. There are two 18-hole championship courses here. They are the Pinnacle Course and the Monument Course. The latter is sometimes converted into a short course.

The resort itself is set on 127 sprawling acres. It has an outdoor pool, two tennis courts, and a full-service spa. Between time spent at the green, try out the various in-house restaurants. Alternatively, you can stay in and cozy up together by your in-room fireplace!

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

Located on a private beach, Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is an expansive five-diamond resort. It offers lots of pampering for the discerning couple. The Well & Being Spa offers comprehensive spa and beauty services. You can also receive customized fitness training.

All guests at this hotel can benefit from the in-house golf concierges. They’ll get you the best tee-time reservations at golf courses in the area. This includes the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course, which is next to the resort. Your concierge can also book lessons at the golf school or spa treatments after a tiring day.

We-ko-Pa Casino Resort

A stay at the above two resorts will cost a pretty penny. There are more affordable options for a budget golf trip in the area, including We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort. This resort is in Fort McDowell, a 30-minute drive outside of Scottsdale.

Wekopa Casino Resort has a golf club of its own, The We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. There are two championship courses here: Saguaro and Cholla.

If you two not only love to golf together but are also interested in some betting, this resort has a full-service casino.

Pebble Beach, California

Pebble Beach, California

Pebble Beach Golf Links

There are few places better to have a romantic getaway than somewhere warm with an ocean view. On the Monterey Peninsula’s south coast, Pebble Beach is one of best golf vacations for couples.

Plus, you’ll find some of the most charming cities nearby including Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, and Big Sur. In my opinion, there’s nothing that compares to the scenic Pacific Coast Highway drive from Santa Barbara to Pebble Beach. And, you won’t want to miss the 17-mile drive in Pebble Beach.

You have five courses to choose from when you vacation in Pebble Beach. The star of the show is the Pebble Beach Golf Links, an 18-hole public course. It’s been the location for the US Open five times — the most times of any golf course in the past 50 years.

Spyglass Hill

Perhaps second-best at Pebble Beach is Spyglass Hill, a links course. Flanked by the ocean to one side and dunes to the other, the green of Spyglass Hill seems all the more vibrant.

The holes at Spyglass Hill are quite varied. The first five are set among the dunes. They bring you towards the ocean for a moment. It’s pretty brief, as the back nine eventually take you through trees on the hillside.

Stay at The Inn at Spanish Bay

You’ll have plenty of options for accommodation in Pebble Beach, but The Inn at Spanish Bay stands out. The Inn feels quaint yet is still luxurious. It has ocean views and quite a bit of privacy, perfect for a romantic golf trip.

In addition to the above courses, you can also try out Links at Spanish Bay. This links course is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. original. There’s also The Hay, a short course designed by Tiger Woods. At the end of the day, enjoy watching the sunset as you walk along the inn’s boardwalk.

Jacksonville, Florida

Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

The TPC Sawgrass Golf Club is just next door to Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. It’s one of the top golf resorts in Jacksonville.

There are two championship courses at this club. One is the famous Stadium Course, which has a trio of daunting yet rewarding finishing holes. Dye’s Valley is the other course. Almost every hole at this course has water, offering a very different experience.

From the resort, you can take a complimentary shuttle to the Cabana Beach Club. Here, you can sip a drink with your special someone as the day draws to a close.

Hammock Beach Resort

Just south of Jacksonville, in the mild and breezy city of Palm Coast, you’ll find Hammock Beach Resort. This resort is home to two championship 18-hole courses. The terrain takes center stage here. There are wetlands, waterfalls, brooks, and immaculate stonework.

The rooms here are modern and spacious, and the full-service spa here is quite unique. They offer thalassotherapy or hydrotherapy using seawater. The resort also has a private luxury yacht that guests can enjoy.

Naples, Florida

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples

Another Floridian city that offers excellent golf getaways for couples is Naples. Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort has its own 36-hole golf club. There are two championship courses, both designed by Greg Norman. With five unique tee boxes, these courses are great for high and low handicappers.

This resort has fantastic amenities and services of its own, but when you stay here, you also gain the ability to freely explore and enjoy the nearby Ritz-Carlton Beach Resort.

Las Vegas, Nevada

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

Las Vegas is known for its casinos, but the golf scene is terrific, too. The city is home to many world-class golf courses. TPC Las Vegas, Cascata Golf Club, and Rio Secco Golf Club are just a few.

The Las Vegas strip is relatively compact in walkability means that pretty much anywhere you stay will be near golf courses. My pick is MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Fun-loving couples will definitely enjoy a golf getaway here. There’s a full-service spa, a 6-acre pool complex, 18 restaurants, and (of course) a massive casino!

Luxor Hotel & Casino

Las Vegas isn’t the most budget-friendly city. There are, however, some affordable options for golf vacations for couples. One resort is Luxor Hotel & Casino. This Egypt-themed resort is massive — 30 stories! It has a very warm vibe, perfect for couples.

Being on the Strip, Luxor Hotel & Casino is also near Las Vegas’ many golf clubs With so many golf courses located near the resort, you’ll be able to gain access to formidable hubs such as Shadow Creek and Bali Hai.

If you’re looking for something a bit more out of the way, consider TPC Las Vegas. It’s a desert course roughly 20-minutes from the Strip designed by Raymond Floyd and Bobby Weed. It is often ranked one of the best golf courses in the US.

Austin, Texas

Omni Barton Creek Resort

Austin, TX was named “The Best Golf City in America” by GOLF Magazine. This opinion is backed up by the existence of Omni Barton Creek Resort. This resort has not 18, not 36, but 72 holes worth of championship golf!

Two of the four courses at Omni Barton Creek Resort were designed by Tom Fazio. One of them, the Fazio Foothills Course, is a definite must-play. It was even named the Best Resort Course in Texas. The layout is meticulously well-designed, with cliffs, caves, and waterfalls lining the fairway.

Asheville, North Carolina

Biltmore Estate
Asheville has plenty to see including the Biltmore Estate

Omni Grove Park Inn

The tranquil atmosphere of Asheville is perfect for couples that want to be completely relaxed during their getaway. Omni Grove Park Inn has a championship golf course with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This par-70 course features elevated tee boxes. They give you a great line of sight throughout the round.

The golf course has been graced by PGA legends such as Ben Hogan and Bobby Jones. Henry Ford and former President Barack Obama have also played rounds here.

Sea Island, Georgia

The Cloister at Sea Island

Sea Island is a private resort island in Georgia with three championship golf courses. The Seaside Course is a Scottish links-style green. The historic Plantation Course is challenging and fun for all levels. Lastly, the Retreat Course is a sprawling course surrounded by pines and oaks.

The premier accommodation at Sea Island is The Cloister. The expansive grounds feature five miles of private beach. The hotel’s secluded atmosphere only adds to the already intimate vibe of the island! Needless to say, it’s a prime location when it comes to golf vacations for couples.

The Inn at Sea Island

Sea Island has no shortage of expensive, luxurious accommodations. A more affordable option, though, is to stay at The Inn at Sea Island.

Note that staying at the Inn doesn’t automatically allow you access to most of Sea Island’s amenities. You’ll have to also purchase the Sea Island Golf Package. It still works out cheaper than staying at The Cloister.

In addition to the three championship courses, Sea Island has a leisurely putting course. Aside from golf, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy together on Sea Island. Try out some croquet, shooting, or horseback riding.

Napa, California

Napa, California

Silverado Resort & Spa

I’m of the opinion that the best couples golf vacations are the ones that involve wine. If you agree, Napa is the place to be.

Silverado Resort & Spa is set against the hillsides of Napa. It features two championship-level, world-class golf courses. The greens here are known to be quite challenging. Still, I think any level of handicap can still enjoy themselves.

When you’re not on the greens, spend time lounging by the resort’s pools. Alternatively, get out and explore (and taste) all that Wine Country has to offer.

Kiawah Island, South Carolina

Turtle Point Golf Course

Kiawah Island Golf Resort is one of the nation’s top golfing destinations. There are five courses to enjoy! The Ocean Course is the most famous one. Many tournaments have been hosted there. However, Turtle Point Golf Course is an underappreciated gem.

You have to pay close attention when planning your shot around the course’s water hazards! It’s definitely an exciting course. The 15th hole is especially nerve-wracking, requiring you to maneuver through a very narrow fairway.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Kiawah Island has such a refined air to it, and there’s no place that oozes luxury like The Sanctuary. This five-star hotel is the place to be on Kiawah Island. It’s home to delectable restaurants, stately bars, several pools, and a pristine beach.

All rooms at the hotel have a balcony or patio, most of which offer ocean views. Another place you can get ocean views is The Ocean Room. It’s The Sanctuary’s flagship restaurant. Here, you can enjoy a luxury steakhouse dinner for two, sipping wine as the sun sets over the waves..

The Villas at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Naturally, Kiawah Island’s reputation comes with a steep price tag. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more budget-friendly in the area, you’re not completely out of luck.

A stay at The Villas will be cheaper but will still offer you plenty of the same benefits as The Sanctuary. That includes golf discounts and preferential tee time bookings. You also get savings on activities such as kayaking, charter fishing, and dolphin encounters.

Lake Tahoe

Edgewood Tahoe Resort

Sitting 6,200 feet above sea level and surrounded by pines, the rugged beauty of Lake Tahoe makes for an incredibly scenic golfing experience.

Edgewood Tahoe Resort and its golf course are on the lake’s south coast. There are four sets of tees, ranging from 5,500 to 7,300 yards, making it a viable green for any skill level.

The resort itself is fantastic, with a private stretch of beach on the lake and a full-service spa. Nature lover couples will feel totally at peace here. You can enjoy a rewarding hike or take a kayak out onto the lake.

Hawaii

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

Hawaii is surprisingly underrated when it comes to golf getaways for couples. The unique landscape lends to some awesome course designs. A perfect example is the golf course at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.

This 18-hole championship course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. It features classic green fairways contrasted with black lava. The course winds along the Pacific Ocean, adding to the atmosphere. At the resort, you’ll also find a putting green and a short game area for training. There’s an indoor simulator, too.

Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection

Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection has three distinctly fun courses. They are the North Course, South Course, and Wikiwiki Course.

The North and South Courses are 18-hole courses. Like the one at Four Seasons, they feature rolling greens carved into a black lava landscape. The Wikiwiki Course (which translates to “Fast” Course) is a quick, 9-hole course. The South Course is also known for having a great pace of play, despite being a full-length course.

When not on the green, head over to the resort’s open-air spa. You’ll be equally refreshed by the treatments and the ocean breeze.

Final Thoughts

While there are many other outstanding locations for golf getaways for couples, these cities rank at the top of our current list for couples things to do, weather, and of course, golf.

Keep in mind colder climates may close golf courses in the off-season. On the other hand, warmer states such as Florida also experience hurricane season, which may result in more rainy conditions. If the weather concerns you, you’ll want to know the optimal time to travel.
