Matt Callcott-Stevens, Senior Golf Writer

Matt Callcott-Stevens, Writer

As the youngest of 5 children, Matt has spent his life surrounded by older citizens. He grew up on the 3rd hole of the Victoria Country Club in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, and was one of only a handful of junior golfers allowed to play on the course. His handicap lowered each year, and at the age of 10, Matt started participating in weekly club competitions against senior men and ladies at the club. He was seldom paired with other young players, causing him to acquire a wealth of knowledge from his senior counterparts, who educated him on the etiquette, rules, and technicalities of the sport.

Senior golfers had a monumental impact on Matt’s love for the game. Playing with veterans allowed Matt to identify what worked best for seniors. He realized the equipment the seniors around him used better suited fast-swinging, strapping young individuals. He has committed himself to steer mid and high-handicap senior golfers in the right direction, ensuring they select equipment that makes the game as fun and easy as possible.
